You Had Me at Hot Wings!

When I first started researching the best ways to follow a healthy Keto lifestyle, I was shocked and delighted to discover that Hot Wings (with lots of Blue Cheese Dressing) were a staple in many Keto kitchens. And, being the Hot Wings connoisseur that I am, I already knew that great wings start with great hot wing sauce. No matter how you prepare your wings, it's the sauce that makes or break them!


Use The Right Wings


I always start with frozen, pasture-raised party wings. My favorite come from Butcher Box. Another great source of individually frozen hot wings is Springer Mountain. You'll find them at most Publix and Winn Dixie grocery stores.

Air Fry and Shake


Make your sauce ahead of time, then once your wings are crispy and hot (I use a Nu-Wave Air Fryer, but any air fryer will do) simply add your wings to a large mixing bowl, preferably one with a tight lid. Pour an ample amount of sauce over the wings, close the lid and shake vigorously. NOTE: Shaking the wings in the sauce helps completely coat and incorporate the wings and sauce together, a strong recommendation from the original creators of the now famous Buffalo Wings.


Be sure to make your own Blue Cheese Dressing and avoid using any store-bought brand that contains soy oil. I use ramekins and always offer a double serving ~ yes!


Keto Hot Wing Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:


2/3 cup Franks hot sauce

½ cup cold unsalted butter

1 ½ Tablespoon white vinegar

¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 Tablespoon Sriracha sauce (optional)

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt to taste

2-5 drops liquid Stevia




Mix and heat to simmer, whisk and set aside to cool. Keeps in the refrigerator for weeks.


Serving size: 8 wings
